SatNav & GPS
What is it?GPS (Global positioning by satellite) allows a user to know their exact location anywhere on the planet. Using multiple earth-orbiting satellites the equipment is able to calculate its position. Combining a GPS system with a mapping system allows for navigation using SatNav. Why should I want it? If you have ever got lost while driving then you already have a use for SatNav. Modern systems may include maps for the UK, Europe or other countries to help you find your destination and include references to petrol stations, hotels, airports and other useful destinations. If you find yourself in a traffic jam the SatNav can find you an alternative route easily. Modern systems have voice instructions to tell you when a turning is approaching and some can even respond to voice controls. Entering your desination may be as easy as entering the postcode, road name or just clicking on the map. 
Speed-trap DetectorsSpeed trap detection using GPS is another application with products such as Road Angel, Cyclops and Snooper devices. These devices hold a database of fixed speed trap locations and alert the driver when you approach one. How does it work?
